We’re going back to Burnsville Square! If you can take just a few hours off and\/or encourage as many of your family and friends to take the time, help us make a larger impact and show up on Thursday!<\/p>\n

Because this event is as much about supporting Labor as it is making more people aware of the dangers from the current administration, we’re moving the rally time a little earlier to try to catch more people moving around before and after lunchtime.<\/p>\n

Drawing inspiration from the legacy of labor and community movements of the past that fought for the eight hour workday, and building upon the protests against the federal layoffs, for union rights, and the more recent April 5th nationwide event, the May Day action is dedicated to fighting for a better future that prioritizes the needs of working families and their neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

Just four months into the Trump Administration, the May Day action emerges as American families face cuts to programs for low-income students, reductions in Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare, attacks on foreign graduate students and calls for additional tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s national day of action unites a powerful, intersectional movement calling for:<\/p>\n

\u2022 North Carolina\u2019s legislators, US District 11 Rep. Chuck Edwards, and US Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd, to protect us from the Trump Tax Scheme, designed to gut the safety net of rural working families here in North Carolina.
\n\u2022 An end to the billionaire takeover and corruption under the Trump administration.
\n\u2022 Full funding for public schools, healthcare, and housing for all.
\n\u2022 Protection and expansion of Medicaid, Social Security, and critical social programs.
\n\u2022 An immediate halt to attacks on immigrants, Black, Indigenous, trans, and other targeted communities.
\n\u2022 Union protections, fair wages, and dignity for all workers\u2014regardless of race, zip code, or immigration status.<\/p>\n
