The protest was 99.9% awesome. 0.1% WTF. I’ll get the WTF out of the way first. A little over an hour into the protest there was an altercation between a trump supporter and protester which resulted in the protester being injured. They were taken to the hospital and required 20 staples in their head. I hear that they’re ok otherwise.
But for that, the protest was very peaceful. The final official estimate is around 500 people came out to get their message across, wave flags and make a bit of noise. Especially when someone would drive by, honking in support. Which happened a lot.
If you’re in the facebook group (someone please replace FB already, please?) or are FB friends with someone that was there, you will have likely seen hundreds of photos and videos of the event showing people talking, smiling, waving flags and signs while standing or marching around the square.
There were at least 3 other trump supporters there, one waving a US flag and the other two walking around the square at times. As far as I’ve heard, interactions with the first were mostly cordial and with the latter two, entirely so.
While I enjoyed talking with new friends and hope to see them again one day, I really wish I didn’t have to say “see you at the next protest!”
Most of the pics below are from LeaC with a few from MichaelH. Video is a mix from both as well.
