What are you up to?
What are you and your circle doing to lift up, support, inform your community and/or to fight back against the criminal enterprise squatting on our federal government? Please share with us so we can include that in future newsletters. Sometimes knowing of the littlest things being done by your neighbors can help lighten the load someone may be carrying or give others the courage or push to do something themselves. Often, knowing you’re not the only one that cares about a particular issue is enough to move someone to act. Let us also know if you’d like your name shared.

May 22 demonstration
We had a good pop-up. About 20 people came out and we counted 350 honking and waving supporters. There were very few detractors. A few of the typical “I love trump!” or thumbs-down and one “get a job!” but less than a dozen this time. The bird-toddler hasn’t been seen in at least a year so must be a new one or rather, two. His brother on the other side of the car was also giving us the bird.
Oh, you don’t know what I mean by bird toddler?
Then there was Mr Shame, who was a new visitor. He felt he just had to stop and tell us to turn the flag out of “distress” mode and get rid of our 8647 sign.
But otherwise, it really was great afternoon.
One thing everyone should remember, and I know it’s hard sometimes, is not to engage with the detractors, especially don’t engage with a toddler with their middle finger up. They are dangerous. But seriously, it doesn’t take much to trigger the detractors so lets all work to keep our responses non-verbal and non-confrontational.
Flock update
Good news is that we’ve gotten positive responses from the Mitchell commissioners and some of the information we requested has been sent back to us. We’re still clarifying a few details so there’s nothing we can share at the moment.

MCAR adoption event – May 30
We are looking for volunteers to help with a special pop-up adoption event at Asheville Humane Society on Friday, May 30th from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM!
We would love your help making this event a success by assisting with transportation, handling animals, talking with potential adopters, and supporting the event throughout the day. Transportation and lunch will be provided.
Most importantly, we would love to see your smiling face there!

De-Flocking Yancey – June 8
We’ve spoken to the Mitchell commissioners. Now it’s time to talk to Yancey. At the next Yancey Commissioners meeting at 6:30pm on June 8 we plan on presenting signed petitions and speaking during the citizen input period about the need for more transparency regarding the use of Flock cameras in Yancey. If you can make it out to show support for this effort, please do.
Our “FLOCK Cameras in Yancey County” petition needs all the signatures we can get. If you live in Yancey, do business in Yancey or just drive through Yancey, you may be affected by Flock recording your comings and goings.
