Mountain Indivisible’s No Kings 3 event that is coming up this Saturday, March 28 at the Town Square in Burnsville, NC. As we raise our voices to reject the regime, we are working with the national Indivisible organization and many other groups to host the largest demonstration of civic resistance in history. Can we do it? You bet we can!

We ask that you and anyone who accompanies you to our NK3 event join us in our commitment to peaceful protest. Resorting to violence and destructive behavior plays into the hands of the authoritarian regime. Peaceful protest is the only way we accomplish our objectives.

Be peaceful and have fun!  Costumes are not only welcomed, but encouraged!

All are welcome to join the rally, scheduled rain or shine.

 

Peaceful Protest Mountain-Style Safety Guidelines!

Upon arrival, visit the Welcome Table and look around for Mountain Indivisible leads/helpers/monitors wearing No Kings ID signs, Mountain Indivisible t-shirts, and event security monitors wearing yellow high-visibility vests.

Be polite to curious passersby, towns people and local businesses. Wave and be friendly to folks in vehicles no matter their reaction. STAY OUT OF THE STREET unless we are marching and using crosswalks.

Dialogue with people who respectfully want to talk about what we are doing, and who are courteous and conversational. Keep the conversation friendly. Disengage if they become confrontational.

Instigators are people who want to cause disruption. They may be loud and use abusive language. Pay attention to people’s hands and faces, and don’t be drawn into a confrontation. Walk away, find a member of leadership/safety, and point the person out so we know who they are.

Though we don’t currently expect them, counter protestors may come to our event or be in the same general area. Hopefully they will be peaceful and respectful as they express their opinions. If they become antagonistic and attempt to cause a conflict, notify safety monitors (hi-vis yellow vests, No Kings tags, or find help at the Welcome Table). Move away from anyone trying to cause disruption. Local law enforcement is aware that we practice peaceful protest, and will assist us if needed.

Be smart. Be watchful. If you see something, say something!

NO WEAPONS. Even if you have a permit, leave any weapon locked in your car or safely at home. Weapons of any kind have been illegal at protests in NC since 1981. No exceptions! If you negatively engage with someone or have a weapon, you will be asked to leave.

See to your comfort. Bring a water bottle, a snack in your pocket, and dress for the weather as forecast. Bring your own signs or use some of ours. Plan to have fun, talk to lots of like-minded folks, and be part of something HISTORIC!

We’ll have a trial run of bumper stickers available for purchase for $5.  Not being sure how many people would be interested, we only ordered 20.  If there’s enough interest, we’ll make sure to order more for our next event.

Thank you stickers

We’ll have a donation box at the welcome table and as a thank-you for a minimum donation of $5 we’ll give you a “Supporter” sticker for your water bottle, laptop, whatever you might want to put it on.
